Cadastral maps are used in organizing and depicting land ownership, and used in obtaining property valuations. According to the BLM website "5.6.1 Public Land Survey System Lines (PLSS)/Land Grant LinesRule 12D-8.008, (1), (a), Florida Administrative Code, requires all descriptions (and thus parcel maps) to be based upon reference to the government grid survey system"
